Katie Holmes Wore the Shorts-Alternative That’s So Underrated for Summer

It’s practically summer– the 2nd June shows up, it’s all Mister Softees all over (New Yorkers, IYKYK), shorts out, shoes galore, and unbearably hot train platforms. I like 2 of those four things, with the latter being the one NYC summer concern I don’t believe I’ll ever have the ability to handle gracefully. And while I’m not a huge fan of shorts, I’ll wear them if requirement be, though Katie Holmes simply provided an alternative that still provides some ease and breeze.

The actress attended a Chanel lunch for the Tribeca Festival, and while, obviously, she was using a micro mini Chanel crossbody bag that was simply huge enough to hold her secrets (?) and perhaps a Chanel lippie, her pants are the total reverse of her squint-to-see bag: big, billowy, wide-leg pants that weren’t your typical trousers. They were cool pants, with an XXL silhouette that almost makes them appear like a skirt, along with charming floral appliqués that provided the pants some additional dimension.

Holmes matched her XXL trousers with a teeny, small tank top with a bigger flower smack dab in the middle; she rounded out the look with the abovementioned Chanel bag, a cool chain belt, and shoes that were, well, totally hidden under her pants. Those will remain a secret! While I would use whatever Holmes wore, I have to discuss once again how in love I am with her pants for summertime 2024– and I’m not the only one either.

Big pants have actually been around for a number of years now, and there’s a reason for it. Unlike super-tight skinnies, this spacious shape provides you ample breathing time, a.k.a., air ventilation for when it’s super hot and damp outside and you ‘d rather be in a swimsuit than any other article of clothes. Clearly, that’s not constantly possible, so billowy bottoms are the next best thing; not to mention, they likewise keep your legs safe from any sunburn, in case you frog to put on sunscreen (me!).

My final word? I particularly like the concept of pairing big pants with a teeny-tiny crop top, practically like Holmes did. It experiments with the percentages in an eye-catching method, and is discreetly hot, too.

Shop some more big trousers to participate summer season 2024’s huge trousers energy with ease.
