I’m absolutely not a short-short type of girl. I never ever– nor will I ever– use the ultra teeny-tiny cut-offs; not only because I merely do not feel comfortable in them, however they simply don’t appear like useful pants to use while running out and about (or sitting on the train).
The actress was seen at the ultra-chic Chanel dinner throughout the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival– which Holmes participated in, BTW!– and as you ‘d anticipate of every attendee at said supper, they were dressed to the nines. That stated, I was particularly keen on Mendes’s look since it was oh-so-simple, but still on-trend and elegant– and I never thought I would call a set of shorts elegant.

She tucked it into her Bermudas to keep the clothing streamlined, rounding out everything with strappy black heels and a chain-link Chanel bag. Love!
Kut From the Kloth Pleated Linen-Blend Shorts
I want whatever in Mendes’s appearance, especially that Chanel bag, but what I’ll most realistically be wearing next week are Bermuda shorts. New York summer seasons can get pretty cozy, and while I would be totally content wearing long trousers all season long, in some cases, it’s simply not possible given the humidity. So, Bermudas are a great in-between; as I discussed, I decline to use short-shorts, and this Mendes-worn style uses adequate protection while still providing leg exposure, aka, some much-needed ventilation.
Bermudas are really quite flexible, too; they can be used with tennis shoes or heels, sandals or espadrilles– basically any summer season shoe you have laying around. Not to mention, tank tops, button-downs, and breezy white tees are all level playing field, too.
While some individuals (me!) may be fast to write off this dissentious pattern, it’s really worth a shot if you do not wish to wear cut-offs and it’s too hot for long pants. I believe I simply persuaded myself to try a pair (or more).
