I Keep Wearing This $40 Blanket-Like Cardigan That’s Warm Enough for Bone-Chilling Weather

This is my very first winter season in Maryland where I’ve needed to break out my heavyweight coats, sweatshirts, and cardigans. I ‘d say that for the last four years, I’ve gotten away with light-weight cashmere sweatshirts, midweight puffer coats, and cardigans that could double as a long-sleeve t-shirt. And now that there’s snow on the ground and temperatures are in the low 20s, I need a restock on some much heavier winter season basics.

I chose to start by revamping my cardigan collection due to the fact that I grab one daily, but my current go-to for relaxing is paper-thin. I scrolled through Amazon and encountered Lillusory’s Chunky-Knit Open-Front Cardigan, a thick and snuggly choice that’s appropriate for cold temperatures. It was an immediate add to cart, and after using it every day for the recently, I’m returning for all 18 colors.

The midi, calf-length cardigan can be found in neutrals like gray, black, and navy, plus more stylish pink and red, and sizes vary from S to XL. It includes a tightly knitted waffle-weave texture, ribbed finishings at the cuff and hem, drop shoulders for a relaxed fit, and a lapel-like collar for some visual interest. The cardigan also has side-seam pockets on both hips and an oversized fit, making it excellent for layering over long-sleeve tops.

I was looking for a versatile, blanket-like design I might simply toss on over loungewear or dress up as required, and this Lillusory alternative examined all boxes. While I mostly use this open-front cardigan for lounging at home, the rolled lapel, beautiful draping, and practical pockets make it stylish enough to throw over a blouse, jeans, and booties for a night out on the town. It uses a good quantity of warmth by itself in low temperatures, but I ‘d still suggest layering under a wool raincoat. I have not taken it off given that it showed up– it’s even comfy enough to nap in thanks to its thick, extremely soft material that’s non-irritating to the skin.

Similar to any knitted piece, the threads can snag if you’re not mindful, so attempt to be mindful of your surroundings. I was anxious it may start to pill, I made sure to wash it before wear. To my surprise, it held up well after a mild cycle in the washing maker and air drying.
